Transmission Service near Tampa, FL

No matter how much muscle your favorite ride has, you’ll be going nowhere fast if all that horsepower isn’t able to turn your wheels effectively! That’s where your transmission comes in, a drivetrain element that’s critical to your car’s performance and efficiency. Needless to say, you’ll want to be sure this component is in tip-top shape at all times, and we at Dyer Kia are here to help you do just that. Read on to learn about why transmission maintenance is so important, and be sure to see us for service if the time is right!

How a Transmission Works

Whether your transmission is manual, automatic, or a CVT, the principle is the same — this mechanism converts the energy your engine generates into power that turns your wheels. Almost all transmissions do this by using gears of different sizes that are designed to work optimally at a certain speed. Obviously, a system like this involves a lot of elements, with its bearings, shafts, belts, and gears being managed with fluid that flows through a filter and around the moving parts. As with anything involving this many components, there’s always the potential for malfunction, which is why keeping an eye on your transmission with routine maintenance is so important.

How Often Do I Need Transmission Service?

While we always recommend that you consult your owner’s manual for guidance specific to your vehicle, a good rule of thumb is that you should bring your transmission in for service every 25,000 to 30,000 miles. Routine maintenance will mostly involve your transmission fluid, which not only provides the hydraulic power that the gears use to shift, but also lubricates, protects, and cools the system’s metal parts as they interact with each other. A check-up will ensure that you have enough fluid and that it hasn’t become too polluted with debris, setting you up for many more miles of smooth operation. A mechanic may also change the fluid filter, install new gaskets, and inspect other components like hoses and belts, depending on your individual circumstances.

Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Jean told me exactly what I needed. They are honest and prices are fair. After moving here, I was anxious about going to a new dealership but I’m not any longer. Very pleased with everything. This was my second visit. I’m treated like I’m the only customer. Excited about the new building. Thank you for taking care of me. I appreciate you all.

Good experience getting my oil changed. No appointment, but they fit me in and got it done in a reasonable amount of time. Price was higher than several of the oil change services advertised on the side of the road, but that's fine. At least I know that if something goes wrong with my oil situation, they'll fix it. (I once had an oil change where they forgot to put in a plug of some sort, and another in which they didn't tighten the filter so the oil all leaked out in about two days, and both times those places tried to insist it was MY fault.) They did tell me about an issue that will eventually cost me a hundred bucks or so, but they didn't try to pressure me into taking care of it right away, so yeah. 5 stars! :)
